Miley Ray Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus, was born to Tish Cyrus Billy Ray Cyrus, and her siblings at Thompson's Station in Tennessee. Her siblings include two half-brothers and half sisters, along with a younger brother, sister and a half-sister. Their parents gave their daughter the name Miley, in hopes to see her achieve a lot. Her childhood nickname, Smiley, due to her cheerful disposition later changed to Miley. Her maternal grandfather was Democratic politician Ron Cyrus. Cyrus began her education at Heritage Elementary School. At the age of eight the family relocated into Toronto, Canada, where Cyrus's father Billy Ray took a role in the TV series Doc (2001). Cyrus began thinking about acting in this time. The first time she acted was alongside her father on the set of Doc (2001). Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003), in which she played a smaller role as a child, also had a great success. Cyrus was cast in 2005 as the main character of the Disney TV show Hannah Montana, which is an edgy teenager living an ambiguous life. Once again, her father was on the show with her. It became an instant success, and soon sold-out tours were announced along with merchandising agreements. Cyrus was a popular teen star. In the wake of her breakout role in Hannah Montana (2006), Cyrus moved into different roles. She was her role as Ronnie Miller in The Last Song (2010) and Lola on LOL (2012) alongside Demi Moore.
